A career civil servant, Mr. Md. Raisul Alam Mondal, belonging to 84 batch of Bangladesh civil service (Administration) has joined as Secretary In-charge on 31st January 2018 and as Secretary on 12th July 2018 in the Ministry of Fisheries & Livestock, Government of the Peoples’ Republic of Bangladesh. Prior to this appointment he had been working as Director General (Additional Secretary) of the Department of Environment (DoE) under the Ministry of Environment & Forests since February, 2014. During this tenure Mr. Mondal contributed a lot to the preservation and conservation of environment, bio-diversity and implementation of international environmental conventions and protocols. He attended many bilateral and multilateral negotiations onenvironmental conservation and development, global warming and climate change, adaptation and mitigation, capacity building, technology transfer and sustainable development issues. Under his close supervision and guidance, community based adaptation in the Ecologically Critically Areas for Conservation of Ecosystem and Climate Adaptation project has been effectively completed which results in ‘Community engaged ecosystem based management of natural resources’ model at some Haor and coastal fragile ecosystems. From his glorious 32 years in civil service, he had been playing important role inimplementing different policies, planning and programs of the government in field level administration for more than one decade as well as played a key role to the formulation of different policies while working in different important ministriesand divisions of the government. 

Throughout his career he has gone through various academic courses and extensive training programs both in home and abroad which makes him more resilient ensuring a diversified career. He has been found to be always keen about updating his knowledge in the subjects he has experienced. He is interested in the issues of environment, science, and technology and enthusiastic to enrich himself by advanced knowledge. He has the ability of forward thinking, communicating, influencing, analytical thinking and judgment. Apart from his professional journey he is the active member of various professional bodies and social organizations. 

He was born in 1st January, 1961 inKaliganjUpazila under the districtLalmonirhat. Mr. Mondal obtained Bachelor of Science with Honours and Masters in Psychology from the University of Dhaka. He is married and blessed with three sons.
